I'm traveling from Land's End to John O' Groats by means of Google Street View and Fitbit. In other words I have actually walked every mile I log, just in a more mundane location. This blog records the route I might have taken, if I had the luxury of taking a few months off work!

Bridgwater

Finally entering Bridgwater today, and making my turn to the north as I start to walk to Scotland in earnest.

Bridgwater Houses

I guess this is one of the biggest towns I have crossed so far in this walk. It seems some areas have seen better days (or maybe just waiting to be refurbished?)

YYYY

The high street here looks nice enough. Time to stop for a coffee?

High street shops

Technically this is a river - the river Parrett - but its course has clearly been controlled in order to make it part of the regional canal network.

A Short Day

Not much time for walking in real life today. But enough miles clocked to pass the 200 mile mark! Sadly not past Bridgwater yet, but close to the outskirts by the end of today's walk.

Crossing the Quantocks

Heading into the beyond. Today I will be crossing the Quantocks, still heading east for the time being.

Heading East

In this weather the whitewashed houses here have a distinctly Mediterranean feel to them.

Very nicely converted church here in the village of Crowcombe

A bit of leg work required now in order to climb this hill.

Steep Hill

Not sure if the depluralisation is allowed, but here I find myself standing on top of "a Quantock".

A few fellow walkers out on the hills with me today.

Very creepy looking lane descending out of the hills again, taking me close to my destination for today.

Today's route

Heading east on the A39 / A358

Not hitting any big towns today - starting Eastwards again towards the Quantock hills and eventually Bridgwater, which I should reach in a few days, which will be roughly the 200 mile mark, and also the point at which I "turn the corner" - in other words, stop heading in a generally eastbound direction, and start heading in a generally northbound direction. This makes sense, seeing as I'm aiming for the north of Scotland!

Rolling Countryside

Lots of things to see and do in this area. "Brown signs" line the major A roads.

Brown Signs

Believe it or not, this is Williton Police Station. I wonder if the cells in here have four-poster beds?

Williton Police Station

It seems everything in Williton is fancy. This church appears to have two large annexes!

Looking back towards the hills which lead into my previous days walks over Exmoor.

Some classical architecture, typical of a British seaside resort, with some more recent additions behind...

Heading out of Town

Awesome skies looking back towards Minehead as I leave the town.

I love how the Streetview car manages to take better composed photos than I do at times!

Passing through Carhampton, close to the end of today's journey.

Heading out of Exmoor

Another scenic river crossing by ford or bridge at Robber's Bridge so named due to this area's history as bandit country.

I expected to find a gingerbread cottage at any moment walking along this road...
